A delegation from The University of Colorado (CU) USA the world’s top ranked university visited NSBM to a campus tour and a discussion for a possible partnership. The delegation comprised of Dr. Rohan Christie-David the dean at the University of Colorado Denver Business School and Executive Director John Sunnygard. Vice Chancellor of NSBM Green University Dr. EA Weerasinghe, Deputy Vice Chancellor Mr. Chaminda Rathnayake, Head Academic Affairs and Quality Assurance Mr. Baratha Dodankotuwa, Deans of the Schools Ms. Thilini De Silva, Academic head Mr Sulakshana Silva , Head of Marketing Mr Chiranjeewa Atapattu and Head of Career guidance unit Mr Kapila Liyanage were represented from NSBM.
Initial discussions mainly focused on dual degree programs, faculty and student exchanges, joint degree programs and summer student programs. The Vice Chancellor, NSBM, Dr E.A. Weerasinghe, said that as an educational institute, "Green University were inspired to redefine the role of higher education here in Sri Lanka". Dr E.A weerashinghe emphasized the global policy of NSBM internationalization: To Enrich and contribute to international university collaborations at different areas, including as a means of implementation of the global agenda, through coordinated and evidenced-based positioning of NSBM.
Dr. Rohan Christie-David added “It is First time in the history that any University from Colorado visited Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka's growth has reached a crucial stage. I hope to see many Sri Lankan and American students take advantage of the opportunity to obtain a first-rate education partnerships in both countries while sharing their rich cultural aspects”.
NSBM currently have long term affiliations with world renowned universities and this type of visits will undoubtedly strengthen the capabilities in the field of higher education. NSBM global affiliations are shared efforts of a wide range of stakeholders with the objective of putting knowledge sharing activities at the center of the development agenda.
