NSBM Industry Partnership Ceremony - 2018 hosts 150+ Organizations
NSBM Industry Partnership Programme's Evening of Partnership Building and Fellowship together with Prospectus and Business Dialog Magazine Launching Ceremony was successfully completed for the 2nd consecutive year under the distinguished patronage of Hon. Mr. Karunarathne Paranavithana – Deputy Minister of Science, Technology, Research, Skills Development and Vocational Training & Kandyan Heritage as the Chief Guest on Monday, 10th September 2018 at NSBM Green University Town, Pitipana, Homagama.
NSBM ‘Industry Partnership Program’ is designed to optimize synergies among the Industry Partners and NSBM, in relation to Entry Level Talent Acquisition (Internship / Training), Employer Brand Building, Knowledge Sharing, Corporate Brand Building, Special Projects, Incubation / Entrepreneurship Development and Talent Acquisition of fresh graduates.
The Keynote speech of this event was done by Mr. Aravinda Perera, Managing Director of Royal Ceramics Lanka PLC & Chairman of Singer Finance Lanka PLC which emphasized the ‘Importance of Industry - University Partnerships for employability of graduates’.
The event hosted Chief Executive Officers, Directors, Heads of HR, Talent Acquisition Offices and Senior Management Officers from over 150 prime companies and employer organizations in Sri Lanka.
NSBM’s Career Guidance Unit ceremonially exchanged MoUs with a few selected Industry Partners namely Asia Asset Finance, Career Builders, Design Republic, Embla Software Innovation, Empite Solutions, Hemas Manufacturing, HSBC Electronic Data Processing (Lanka), ISM APAC, John Keells Holdings, JSF Corporation, LOLC Securities, Rainco, Unilever Sri Lanka, Virtusa, VizuaMatix and Yukari Japanese Center at this ceremony.
All undergraduate programs of NSBM are designed to enable the students to receive the much-needed industry exposure, on full time basis, from the end of 2nd year of study where lectures for 3rd and 4th years are conducted only on weekends. This is a unique feature of NSBM which assures the employability of graduates. Industry Partnership Program plays a vital role in this unique model of NSBM.
The Launching of ‘NSBM Prospectus 2018/19’ was done by presenting the first copy to Hon. Mr. Karunarathne Paranavithana – Deputy Minister of Science, Technology, Research, Skills Development and Vocational Training & Kandyan Heritage by Dr. E. A. Weerasinghe, Vice Chancellor of NSBM and the launching of NSBM Business Dialogue Magazine was also done by presenting the first copy to Hon. Karunarathna Paranawithana – Deputy Minister of Science, Technology, Research, Skills Development and Vocational Training & Kandyan Heritage by Ms. Piyumi Udeshinee, Member of Editorial Board of Business Dialogue Magazine accompanied by Mr. Baratha Dodankotuwa, Head – Academic Development & Quality Assurance and Mr. Ashika Witiwalarachchi, Art Director of NSBM Business Dialogue Magazine.
The event was graced by a guest speech by the Chief Guest Hon. Mr. Karunarathne Paranavithana – Deputy Minister of Science, Technology, Research, Skills Development and Vocational Training & Kandyan Heritage.
The official handover of Letters of Appointment to the first batch of NSBM Graduates from Human Resocia Co. Ltd.. Japan which places NSBM’s Computing graduates permanently in leading companies in Japan was done by Dr. E. A. Weerasinghe, Vice Chancellor of NSBM at the event.
Ms. Sandhya Wijayabandara – Secretory of Ministry of Science, Technology, Research, Skills Development and Vocational Training & Kandyan Heritage, Mr. P. Ranepura - Chairman of NSBM, Members of the Board of Directors of NSBM, Members of the Academic Governing Council of NSBM, Dr. E. A. Weerasinghe – Vice Chancellor of NSBM, Academic and Non-academic members of NSBM and other distinguished invitees were among the participants.
NSBM Green University Town is a government owned fully pledged University Town built on a 26 acre premises at Homagama. It has over 9,000 on-campus students at the moment which will record the highest student population among the state and private universities by the end of this year. NSBM offers UGC approved and foreign undergraduate and post-graduate programmes in three streams namely Business Management, Computing and Engineering.
