NSBM Walk 2019 : Walking towards Greener Pastures


NSBM walk under the theme of “Live, Love, Protect” was held on Sunday the 3rd of March 2019 at 2.00pm onward starting from Green Path Colombo 07.

Deputy Minister to the Ministry of Skills development & Vocational training, Hon. Karunarathne Paranawithana participated as the Chief guest for the walk 2019 and he was welcomed by the Vice Chancellor of NSBM Green University, Dr. E. A. Weerasinghe.

Thousands of NSBM undergraduates, Alumni, Staff and parents walked with the motive of carrying the message of protecting and loving mother nature where we all live, in order to: Live, Love, Protect.

To further emphasize this year’s theme “Live, Love, Protect”, the organizing committee has organized an open competition for the undergraduates where they have to create their own float using a vehicle of their choice, in line with the theme.

Also, the management of NSBM together with the undergraduates shall plant trees in Viharamahadevi park after the end of the walk carrying a message to its young undergraduates.

The event came to a conclusion with an after party at Viharamahadevi Open Air theatre and where the best Vehicle float display which depicted the theme accurately, was awarded.

Deputy Vice Chancellor, Mr. Chaminda Rathnayake, Head of Quality Assurance and academic development, Mr. Baratha Dodankotuwa, Deans of School of Business, Computing, and Engineering, Head of Student activities, other academics, and administrative staff also participated at the “NSBM Walk 2019”

NSBM Green University Town is the first ever green university in South Asia and sets an example for the whole South Asia by paving the way for environmental sustainability. The university open a platform for both national & international student communities and it has turned a new chapter in Sri Lankan higher education. NSBM Green University is established under the Ministry of National Policies, Economic Affairs, Resettlement and Rehabilitation, Northern Province Development, Vocational Training & Skills Development and Youth Affairs. This state-of-the-art university currently has 9000 undergraduates studying in three faculties of Management, Computing and Engineering degree programs which are internationally and nationally recognized, including UGC approved degree programs, and foreign degree programs.
